Smoke Signals

In the movie Smoke Signals  the father, Arnold, struggles with something that is very prevalent in the Native American community which is alcoholism. It is a stereotype that Native Americans are alcoholics and because of this his son, Victor, never drinks because of how he saw his father turned out and be so violent. In the movie you see that the Natives on the reservation struggle with poverty and violence which are two things that are affecting very reservation. The characters find power by singing and story telling which is something that is a big part of their culture.

Thinking About Success

How I would rank the four words luck, opportunity, skill, and hard work, I'd rank them as hard work, opportunity, skill, and luck. Arranging them like this is the best order, to me, to be successful. I chose hard work to be first because personally I don't think you can be much if you don't work hard to get what you want. The second one is opportunity because if there aren't any opportunities for you to get out there and try and succeed, you usually won't be able to do it. Third was skill because if you have a particular skill set it will help you on the road to being successful. Last I said luck because you can't just hope you'll get lucky and get the job or get a good grade without trying.
