12 Years a Slave

While watching 12 Years a Slave I was looking for the usual things you hear about when watching a movie with slavery in it. But there was so much more that I learned from 12 Years a Slave because they showed the even more brutal side and kidnapping. I never knew that people would trick free black me and women into getting enslaved. I also didn't know it was that common for slave owners to sexually assault their female slaves, I thought that all whites hated then and didn't want to ever be intimate with them because they weren't considered people.
In a few interviews I wanted with the actors and actresses of 12 Years a Slave the person asking them questions asked if the movie being directed by an African American man would make a difference and the actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, playing he main character solomon Northrup, said that he fells it did make a difference and he said, "... I'm sure that he is connected to the material in a very strong way being from his heritage is from the west Indies and of corse there was a massive trade in the West Indies"
